Our History

Long before it was a shooting range, this land in the Everglades was part of Southwest Florida’s frontier history.

  1. Deep LakeBarron Collier’s town. The area was once part of Barron Collier’s town of Deep Lake, which later declined.
  2. 1950Copeland prison opens. The Collier family donated the property to the State of Florida, and a prison was built here in Copeland.
  3. 2002The facility closes. After more than 50 years and a long history, the prison finally closed.
  4. TodayDeep 50 Gun Range. The property is home to Naples’ largest private outdoor shooting range.
